CONSULTING PHILOSOPHERS
ACP is a commercial consultancy business. It was established in 2007 by Melbourne Philosopher and Social Entrepreneur Christos Iliopoulos.
ACP's mission is to bring the benefits of Philosophy within the reach of all.
The benefits of medical knowledge are delivered through consulting physicians. Similarly, the benefits of philosophical knowledge are delivered through consulting philosophers.
ACP Philosophers and Consultants are widely experienced and highly qualified, with university degrees in philosophy and in related disciplines. They deliver the benefits of Practical Philosophy to individuals, groups, corporations, educators, and governments.
ACP subscribes to Corporate Social Responsibility principles.
"Talent hits a target which no one else can hit; Genius hits a target which no one else can see."
- Arthur Schopenhauer
WHAT IS
PHILOSOPHY ?
Philosophical contemplation is the primary driver of all the disciplines of human knowledge: Mathematics; Physics; Chemistry; Medicine; Psychology etc., and also of Wisdom.
Inspired by Wonder and the thirst to know, Philosophy critically questions everything - even Philosophy itself - and calls for a thorough rational investigation of the kinds of things that exist in the Cosmos: including human beings.
Through the employment of reason and observation, philosophy seeks to establish how we know - and what we know - about observable, thinkable, and aesthetical phenomena. And, given what we know, what we ought to value - and perhaps how we ought to act - in order to deliberately create authentic and fulfilling lives.
"It is impossible to live a pleasant life without living wisely and well and just. And it is impossible to live wisely and well and justly without living a pleasant life."
- Epicurus

WHAT DO
PHILOSOPHERS DO ?
Philosophers are free thinkers who possess superior conceptual, research, and analytical skills. They are experts in the use of logic, and in critical thinking. They employ reason, knowledge, imagination, and values, to address problems, and to generate logically sound, objectively grounded, and just solutions.
Philosophers perpetually challenge theories, beliefs, and cultural assumptions. A central concern of philosophers is Ethics: right and wrong (Justice). They also contemplate the most profound issue: the nature of our Universe, and the implications of our Existence in it.
Academic philosophers think. Practical philosophers think and do. Practical Philosophers tend to be polymaths with work experience outside academia. They are able to view problems from a multiplicity of disciplined perspectives, and are then able to generate relevant, innovative, and actionable solutions.
WHAT IS PRACTICAL
PHILOSOPHY ?
The end of Practical Philosophy is to create order out of chaos; to protect human freedoms from attacks by groundless doctrine; and to employ reason and human sentiment to do good for oneself, for all human beings and - ultimately - for all forms of Life on Earth.
The benefits of Practical Philosophy are realisable as the fruits of a universal, secular, rigorous, liberal education. An enlightened, critical, rational, and well informed body of democratically habituated citizens, is a necessary antecedent to the flourishing of Practical Philosophy.
A note of caution should appear here. The label 'Practical Philosophy' seems to have been hijacked by quacks and mystics. Practical Philosophy is not about astrology, or 'miracle' cures.
Practical Philosophy aims for the ethical and efficacious resolution of personal, group, corporate, national, and international problems.
