What do philosophers do?
Philosophers are highly skilled experts in clear thinking. They use reason (logic) to analyse (pull apart) complex issues - which they may have researched - so as to draw logical and grounded conclusions. They may also be experts on ethics (right and wrong) and on the most important issue: human existence.

What is practical philosophy?
Philosophy is the study of the various kinds of things that exist in the universe (including human beings); how we know and what we know about their nature; and – given what we know – what we ought to do to have a good life. The aim of practical philosophy (applied philosophy) is to address everyday issues using superior reasoning skills - and ethically - in order to secure a fulfilling life for ourselves as individuals and good living conditions for humanity.

What is philosophical counselling?
Philosophical counselling is a method of practical philosophy conducted by a philosopher together with our client for the purpose of examining and concluding on issues in a confidential, impartial, safe and rational (logical) space. The philosopher will support our client to generate ethical options for decision making and action. Our client may be an individual or a family looking to resolve a dilemma, a commercial client wishing to meet the requirements of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), or a government department embarking on the translation of legislation and policy into actionable initiatives.

New: Australasian College of Practical Philosophy

Christos Iliopoulos, director of Australasian Consulting Philosophers announced that it was his intention to establish a college of practical philosophy. Australasian College of Practical Philosophy is expected to offer training to future philosophical counsellors. Qualified philosophers will be offered training to prepare them for work in practical philosophy. Interested qualified philosophers are invited to forward their expression of interest.
